Onion and Radish Salad

The secret of the salad is to blanch the onion rings before adding them to the salad to take away any bitterness. Perfect served with argentinian-style steak, as pictured.

Onion and Radish Salad

  • 2 large onions, sliced into rings
  • 5 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tbsp red wine vinegar
  • 2 garlic cloves, crushed
  • 1/2 tsp chilli powder
  • 6 large radishes, sliced
  • large handful fresh parsley, chopped
  • large handful fresh coriander, chopped
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste


  1. Separate the onion slices into rings and place in a bowl. Cover with boiling water and leave for 15 minutes.

  2. Meanwhile, place the remaining ingredients into a salad bowl and mix well.

  3. Drain the onion rings and plunge into cold water. Shake dry and add to the salad bowl.

  4. Leave for a couple of hours for the flavours to infuse.
